Resumen

Este artículo se centra en el efecto de la incongruencia de la concordancia de género entre los pronombres personales y sus antecedentes entre oraciones. En dos experimentos de aceptabilidad, se prueba si la aceptabilidad de las violaciones del acuerdo de género en sustantivos animados puede ser modulada por las características gramaticales y contextuales de los antecedentes de los pronombres personales. En el primer experimento, la "especificidad" del antecedente se manipula para hacer que el antecedente se refiera a la clase de individuos o a un referente específico. En el segundo experimento, utilizando nombres propios estereotípicamente masculinos o femeninos, se prueba si se puede atenuar la incongruencia gramatical de género entre pronombres personales comunes y comunes y sustantivos de dos géneros. Aunque el primer experimento mostró un efecto explicado puramente por factores gramaticales, frente a muchas teorías de acuerdo "semántico", los resultados del segundo experimento sugieren que las características gramaticales y contextuales del antecedente se calculan en paralelo cuando los hablantes evalúan las relaciones de concordancia entre los pronombres personales y sus antecedentes.
