Resumo

O estudo possui como base a Ciência do Esporte, e a partir da psicologia do esporte centra-se sobre a temática que envolve os programas de Desenvolvimento Positivo dos Jovens (DPJ) no esporte, procura contribuir não só para o aprofundamento do conhecimento neste domínio, mas também para a promoção da sua aplicação e disseminação, designadamente nos países de língua portuguesa, onde é ainda particularmente escassa sua aplicação, demonstrando que o DPJ centrado no esporte resulta numa vida mais ativa e saudável, que consequentemente encaminha o sujeito ao sucesso. Esse estudo é de natureza qualitativa, constituído a partir da revisão de literatura em periódicos e autores conceituados internacionalmente nessa área do conhecimento. Enfim, a análise dos impactos do esporte na vida dos jovens pode colaborar efetivamente para a desmistificação de valores positivos e negativos que por vezes são atribuídos à prática esportiva.
