Abstract
The purpose of this article was to diagnose the training, in particular universities city of
Rio de Janeiro of new professionals. We use a questionnaire adapted de Silva (2005). The
professors of the adapted physical education discipline have experience and training in the
sport adapted, however missing classes with activities "practice" of intervention. no
extension activities and partnerships of universities any institution connected with the
people with disabilities. The analysis of bibliographies used by universities shows that they
meet the new demands of the area. These data indicate that on the one hand the teachers
surveyed are seeking an adaptation of its contents the new demands of society, but some
institutional barriers still need to be overcome.
