The THE PLACE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN SECONDARY EDUCATION: BETWEEN THE PRESENCE AND ABSENCE OF STUDENT

Abstract

The study investigated the factors that influence participation or absence of students in
physical education classes in high school, a state school education, located in the rural
municipality of S. J. Four of Mark / MT. The study is qualitative and descriptive. Was taken as
the subject for high school students and their teachers. As instruments of data collection were
used: direct observations in situ of the classes on the organization and structure curricular and
pedagogical school, and applying a script semi-structured interviews with students in high
school classes. It was found that students do not identify with the teaching methodology of the
teacher, who introduced himself as a pedagogical practice esportivizada with centrality in
football. Contributes to the discussion of the pedagogical role of physical education in high
school, from the understanding of the daily realities of school, stressing the importance of
meaningful learning experiences and on the bodily practices that address the manifestations of
physical culture, a critical perspective and creative in the formation of the high school
students.
