Abstract
We aimed to identify if the game analysis could serve as a useful tool to understand the
internal logic of basketball within the graduation in Physical Education. It was a research with
method based on the systematization of experience, which sought to identify if and how the
game analysis by basketball academics, held in loco in an official competition, would help in
their understanding of the internal logic of the modality. We identified that not only the game
analysis itself but also the observation and the doubts and discussions that arose because of
the very insertion in the research locus resulted in a significant learning on the part of the
academics, not only about the internal logic of basketball, but also about its official dynamics,
external logic and the universe of institutionalized sport as a whole. We concluded that the
experience analyzed surpassed the expectations in relation to the objectives, demonstrating
that extra class activities can appear as important elements for initial formation in Physical
Education.
