Resumo
Neste artigo analiso a ausência do sublime em Dewey e o sublime na educação condensados na pergunta: o que significa para a formação humana afirmar que Dewey ignorou o sublime? Inicio o raciocínio apresentando a ausência do sublime nos escritos do filósofo. Posteriormente, apresento o sublime kantiano e seu impacto nos projetos modernos de emancipação, particularmente o projeto educacional da Bildung americana pautado na naturalização do idealismo objetivo hegeliano. Por fim, trago o sublime kantiano pensado na educação e na política por Lyotard para debater a formação humana e a crise da democracia hoje. O que está em jogo é a disputa entre emoções sem razão na busca de sentido político e educacional no espaço público amplificado pelas mídias sociais: fanatismo e ignorância. Argumento que é por meio da humildade da ignorância que podemos trazer à existência um propósito, a formação humana como uma ética de vida contra o fanatismo no presente.
