The cultural heritage in the context of porto maravilha: new uses of “old” places

Abstract

This review proposes to discuss from the book by Leopoldo Guilherme Pio entitled “Uses and senses in Cultural Heritage in the Porto Maravilha Project, Rio de Janeiro”, some of its main elements such as “patrimonialization” and the use of culture as a tool for promoting development in the context of the Porto Maravilha project. This discussion will be articulated from these elements, connected with the concept of city marketing to think about the implementation of this project in a degraded area of ​​the central region of Rio, which is structured around black culture.
