Rhythmic gymnastics and sport pedagogy: an integrative review

Abstract

Objective: To describe and review literature on the intersection of Sports Pedagogy (SP) and Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG), as well as to discuss and advance practical implications for this sport based on our professional experience. Methodology: We conducted an integrative systematic review of empirical articles that included "RG" as a keyword and were related to SP topics. After analysis, articles were organized into three topics: psychopedagogical aspects, professional training, and parental involvement. Results and discussion: The review of seven articles highlighted the importance of adapting teaching and training to the particularities of practitioners, establishing motivational strategies for practices and more positive relationships in RG. The main practical implications identified were: providing general motor experiences in RG routines, increasing positive feedback and dialogues with gymnasts, encouraging teamwork, investing in coach training, and involving parents in the sport to promote more conscious support. Conclusion: Despite promising results, this study only selected articles that included "RG" as a keyword, suggesting that there are still many areas to be explored in the dialogue between SP and RG.
