Resumo

The biggest contribution to globalisation has been to redefine its practices in the light of a world of transnational connections and communications, which to a certain extend imply the end of the nation state and of the provincialism (parochialism) implicit in national culture. In this essay we would like to confront, on the one hand, the case of the journal Third Text in relation to Art in America in order to the dismantling of the Western paradigm based on a hegemonic and centralised notion of art occurred in the area of post-colonial thinking, which was slowly replacing the “old” and “Eurocentric” internationalism of the art world with a wider notion of a “globalist” imaginary in contemporary art.
