Abstract

The paper criticizes the 33rd São Paulo Biennial, curated by Gabriel Pérez-Barreiro. Examining the curatorial proposal of inviting artists to organize curatorial cells, alongside the individual choices chose by Barreiro, the author problematizes what he claims to be a fractured and questionable project. Issues involving the Biennial model in contemporaneity are also analyzed, such as: its dilemmas, weaknesses, prospects as well as possible assemblies with capital.
