Abstract
Could an artist be a gallery? From a fragment of an artist book by Antonio Dias and considerations about idealism, this article discusses the publication of periodicals in Brazil in the 1970s and 1980s, trying to show its importance for the circulation of proposals that had no space in the circuit of museums and galleries and in the context of large publishing houses. Thinking of these publications from an institutional point of view, this article seeks to show how artists have expanded their spectrum of action, interfering in institutionalization processes and contributing to the renewal of art criticism.
