Abstract
This article proposes an analysis of the ESCALA collection (Essex Collection of Art from Latin America), belonging to the University of Essex, in the United Kingdom, and its relationship with the insertion of Latin American art in the international circuit. From a look at the trajectory and conceptual aspects of the collection, this work seeks to understand its contribution, along with other institutions in the English context, to the construction of a more global and less stereotyped perspective of Latin American art. The research was based on an interdisciplinary bibliography, which served as theoretical and interpretative support for the analysis of the collection, after the author visited the collection in person, in 2022.
