NBR 10520 - Information and documentation - Citations in documents

We inform that the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT) published, on July 19, 2023, the update of the standard NBR 10520 - Information and documentation - Citations in documents - Presentation.

Therefore, from now on, all submissions to RDBCI must be made based on the updates of the new edition of the standard.

To summarize the standard, below we transcribe 7 important points from the new updates of the standard 10520/2023:

Author's name in parentheses is no longer in uppercase (Ribeiro, 2002).
Documents with more than 3 authors, opt for et al. or cite all authors in the text (Almeida et al., 2015) or (Almeida; Silva; Moraes; Ribeiro, 2023) - RDBCI adopts "et al.". in both citations and references.
There is no more emphasis by the author
Verbal information is no longer used. Data obtained from unpublished sources (lectures, speeches, communications) should be indicated in text or note.
When the quotation is translated by the author, use the expression "our translation" or "own translation".
For direct quotations indicate the location of the text in non-paged documents.
The text on notes has changed, it is now: "reference note" or "explanatory note".

Sincerely,

Gildenir Carolino Santos | Editor-in-Chief of RDBCI
