From "Paideia" in antiquity to Pedagogy in contemporary times: the challenges of education

Abstract

This article seeks to present the main educational concepts present in different periods of human history, ranging from Classical Antiquity, with the Paidéia model, to the present day, in which Pedagogy presents itself as “Science of Education”. Through a brief contextualization of the different arrangements of society in each period, try to analyze the existing relationships between them and the characteristics of each corresponding human formation project. In the end, it intends to raise some reflections on the status of Pedagogy as “science”, addressing the challenges that are instituted for the relationship between school subjects and the teaching-learning process.
