The contributions of anarchist educators to freirean pedagogy

Abstract

Introduction/Objective: This article aims to investigate the relationship between Paulo Freire's anti-authoritarian pedagogies and the libertarian education of the Anarchist movement. In this way, it identifies to what extent there are traces of the forces of anarchist thought manifested by Proudhon (1809-1865), Bakunin (1814-1876), among others, which remain in the immortal pedagogies of Paulo Freire (1921-1997). Methodology:  Based on an interpretative qualitative methodology, we proposed to 32 students from 2 Postgraduate classes in Education areas to evaluate the quality of their own learning experience during the course in order to make these students researchers of themselves. Results: The results contribute to the understanding of the links between Libertarian Education, anarchist, from the 19th-20th century, and Paulo Freire's pedagogies. Conclusion: The conclusion was that Paulo Freire approached the anarchist ideal, putting it to contemporary times in a political way and as a tool for deconstructing the unique reality and rebuilding a diverse world.
