Resumo

In thsi study, we postulate the existence of a dynamic of interaction between the sender and the receiver of a text, as the latter is constructed by the receiver. This dynamic is examined from a textual semiolinguistic perspective based on a social and dialogical conception of the acts of reading and writing (in the Backhtinian sense of the term). It evolves during the course of the reading process and is inseparable from the construction of meaning by the receiver. We propose to describe/analyse the reader-sender dynamic of interactions developed by an advanced level North American student reading a short story by a French author (hence, in an exolingual-type situation of written communication). The corpus we analysed was the reading journal she wrote in a foreign language assignment. Despite the fact that the journal was to be evaluated, it clearly showed the dimension of pleasure/enthusiasm experienced by the writer. In our analysis, we attempt to highlight the different phases construction of this dynamic of interaction. Among the notions used to do this are: "instances", "figurations", "face" and "argument strategies". In conclusion, we reason that literary communication favorises the implementation of a reader-sender dynamic of interaction in foreign languages. This is one more argument in favor of introducing literary texts in the foreign language classroom.
