Resumo
Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar os emaranhados do “português” em contexto de diáspora e o seu reconhecimento como língua de herança. Através de uma pesquisa colaborativa na interseção disciplinar entre a antropologia, a sociolinguística e a educação, localizada em um pequeno território da área metropolitana de Boston, marcado por uma antiga imigração açoriana, a análise organiza-se em dois planos complementares: um local, socioespacial e comunitário, em narrativa etnográfica, e outro individual, ancorado na trajetória linguística pessoal, em narrativa autobiográfica. A discussão enfatiza o papel da dimensão ideológica, transversal aos vários pontos analisados, abrindo para uma reflexão crítica sobre português como língua de herança nos EUA.
