Abstract

This paper is part of an ongoing research developed since 2013 in the Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, about Gender Relations in Architecture and Urbanism. The objective of this paper is to present the international debate regarding gender and architecture and introduce the contributions of French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu to studies of gender and architecture. First, it is presented a brief view of the international literature, with its different approaches. Second, it is presented the search for interdisciplinary in architecture that starting on the 60s. Last, the praxeology of Pierre Bourdieu is presented, with its consequences to architectural research.
