Appointments on the organization of creationism and intelligent design in the USA and Brazil

Abstract

The growth of religious institutions, especially those of Christian denomination in Brazil and in the world, has contributed to the spread of religious interpretations about the origin of the world and natural and social phenomena. In this context science as an instrument of understanding the world loses space for the mythical revelations present in the biblical scriptures. Creationism, as the main Christian interpretation for the explanation of the origin of the world, has been reinvigorated in the field dispute with science, by questioning the scientific discoveries inspired by the theory of biological evolution, the guiding axis of the natural sciences, presenting pseudo-scientific alternatives for the understanding of the complex organization of the natural world. In this article some notes on the organization of creationism and Intelligent Design in the USA, cradle of its constitution, and in Brazil, whose dissemination has occupied several institutions of the republic, are presented.
