Resumo

Al analizar el caso del artista chileno Guillermo Deisler, radicado después del golpe de Estado de Pinochet en 1973 en la Bulgaria socialista, este artículo problematiza la cuestión del compromiso político y social de artistas activos tanto en América Latina como en Europa del Este en este periodo. El trabajo propone abordar el tema del cambio no tanto del concepto de comunismo como de la experiencia del “socialismo real” durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Refiriéndose a teóricos como Boris Groys o Slavoj Žižek, el texto se focalizará sobre la producción artística de Deisler para revelar de qué manera su exilio en Bulgaria lo transformó de ser un artista latinoamericano de izquierda comprometido con el poder socialista a un artista de la escena este-europea no-oficial.
