Abstract
This article discusses the participation of Mail Art in the XVI São Paulo Biennial and its repercussions in the artistic and museological field, 40 years after the event. It investigates the transformations that this artistic manifestation went through, which, from a marginal existence, in the independent circuit of the arts, started to be assimilated in the museum context. For this, we will analyze the development of mail art from the international to the Brazilian context, its presence at the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of São Paulo (MAC USP), at the XVI São Paulo Biennial and its musealization process at the São Paulo Cultural Center (CCSP).
