Abstract
Climate change is one of the current challenges of our time, bringing it out countless destabilizing relationships with the world. With this starting point, this article aims to outline a panorama that discusses the relationships between art and ecology with environmental engagement from a historical perspective to create a potent force to face the challenges of the climate regime in which we find ourselves. The wordplay “uncertainty and emergence” is the guiding axis of the reflections in which the possible relationships in art and ecology are discussed from a historical perspective.Two methodological axes were needed: a retreat into the history of the ecological movement and its relationship with the artistic practices of the 1970s, and the contemporary possibilities of collaboration between art, technology, and ecology.
