NFT Art, an auratic framework

Abstract

This article’s desideratum is to reflect the context where some of the main hodiernal art transformations take place. Using the classical concept of aura, conceived by Walter Benjamin, and other interpretations of the concept, we aim to frame the NFT Art in the contemporary art paradigm. Thus, from that articulation, we can think the digital art’s nature and its place in the art world. We look at some achievements that characterize the recent History of Art and Technology, so we can clear the path to an auratic clearing – where we can think the object of study in an informed and clear way. Having understood the context, we will be prepared to draw conclusions about the differences between Art and NFTs. It is important to think the digital art according to its idiosyncratic characteristics, leaving aside the artificial characteristics imposed by the mercantilist voracity. The aura of the work of art, in the age of its digital reproducibility, comes from its reproducibility, according to the essences of the digital space and time.
