Abstract
Associate Professor at the Department of Paleontology and Stratigraphy at the Institute of Geosciences at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Doctor in Landscape Ecology, Master in Geosciences and Geologist at the same institution, Rualdo Menegat is also Doctor Honoris Causa at the Ada Byron University (Peru) and Professor at the UNESCO Chair/ UniTwin Sustainable Development Network/FLACAM (La Plata, Argentina). Along more than 30 years of academic life, between research and teaching, he has also developed translations of the most famous Geology manuals from which students and society get to know Mineralogy, Sedimentology and other areas of Geosciences. Between November 2021 and January 2022, the professor, scientist and translator Rualdo Menegat very helpfully and enthusiastically gave the following interview, in which he lightly reports on the experience of translating such vast material, builds an overview of the evolution of teaching of Geology in Brazil and tabulates a broad and interesting scientific discussion.
