Abstract

Introduction. This article addresses the work of Ricardo Krone, born in Dresden, Saxony, in 1861 and died in Iguape, State of São Paulo, in 1917. Despite the numerous mentions of Krone in many studies from different areas of knowledge, indicating that he had numerous methodological skills and multidisciplinary scientific knowledge, there was still no specific study on it. Objective. Ricardo Krone's scientific contributions are presented to the public, in a systematic and contextualized way. Methodology. The research is a bibliographical review of Ricardo Krone, the sources that allowed him to contextualize his work and the educational model offered to him in Dresden. Results. Krone worked in Vale do Ribeira as a naturalist for national and international museums, on Anthropology, Archaeology, Cartography, Ecology, Ethnography, Speleology, Paleontology and Ornithology; he contributed directly to the legal protection of limestone caves, in 1906 and, indirectly, to the establishment of the Alto Ribeira State and Tourist Park (PETAR), in 1958. Conclusion. Ricardo Krone researched different areas of knowledge, thanks to the polytechnic training he received in Dresden, where he learned to think in a multidisciplinary way and propose transversal solutions to achieve his objectives.
