Resumo
Since the early contacts among different civilizations, man concerned himself with learning another language. This experience has not only allowed him to have access to a new culture but has also made it possible for him to review his own image, through the contact of his Weltaschauung with that of others. With an overt process of globalization and dissolution of frontiers, alterity relationships became the subject of a new scientific discipline, Xenology, whose areas of interest include the teaching and learning of languages, as we demonstrate in our study. In the three parts of this article, therefore, we discuss the relationship between the three basic concepts of Xenology — language, thought and culture — and the learning of foreign languages.O periódico Trabalhos em Linguística Aplicada utiliza a licença do Creative Commons (CC), preservando assim, a integridade dos artigos em ambiente de acesso aberto, em que:
