Resumen
Esta contribución está destinada a proporcionar temas útiles para entender la eficacia cognitiva de los gestos en la enseñanza de idiomas. Pasando de la influencia de los gestos en procesos cognitivos como los procesos de alerta, la memoria, la resolución de problemas y el razonamiento, llegaremos a mostrar las funciones que los gestos pueden realizar en la enseñanza del lenguaje. El objetivo es poner de relieve la necesidad de que los profesores de L2 sean cada vez más conscientes del uso estratégico de los gestos en la enseñanza.
