Abstract
In this work the use of mathematics by a specific professional group, the farmers, is shown. Studying the different procedures used in land area stimatives, we could analyze the mathematical knowledge involved in the different situations. Besides, keeping inn mind the teaching approach, the models used by farmers of different mathematical levels, in a variety of fields, in the particular cases of squares and triangles was analyzed.
