Possible approaches to the concept of collective work in Freinet and Freire

Abstract

The movements of revisiting and analyzing the writings of Freire, in “Pedagogia do Oprimido” and “Pedagogia da Esperança”, and of Freinet, in “Para a Escola do Povo” and “Educação para Trabalho”, about the existence of the concept of collective work reveal words that dialogue about their foundations and lead us to understand the founding principles of another education. The texts, despite not mentioning ipsis litteris such an expression in its compound form, reveal themselves as intimate readings in relation to the theme. Freire discusses the concepts of solidarity, dialogicity / dialogue, reflection, liberation, collaboration, communion and work as ideas that corroborate other readings that guide the process of understanding collective work. Freinet explores principles that compare it through the following themes: education through work, cooperation, self-organization. Both theorists refer to readings that launch the concept of collective work in line with an education project that is done for and with the people. While Freire focuses on the broader education processes and the collective projects itself in the humanization process, Freinet works with these concepts in the field of organization of school work, leading us to reflect and establish a concrete proposal for cooperative work with students and teachers. They are readings that are dissonant, since they recover works by authors and bring them closer to a necessary education for the excluded, for and with the dissonant voices of society, which, at the same time, are part of the social composition.
