Flower of silence and haunt: Memories intertwined in the Coleção Perseverança

Abstract

This article talks about a collection, its burning, the fire that partially consumed it; from the memories that surround it, from the silenced stories, from the unrevealed layers. It also speaks of traces, marks left by black men and women who lived in the state of Alagoas and, with their crafting techniques, built the sacred, the famous xangôs. Thus, we propose a brief account of the hunt, based on some objects from the Coleção Perseverança, the result of the factual Quebra do Xangô from 1912.
