Resumo
O artigo pretende fazer uma aproximação da I Bienal de Havana e da II Bienal de Johannesburgo para analisar a importância de refletirmos sobre as metodologias de pesquisas utilizadas para estudar as bienais. Ambas as exposições revelam como as intersecções entre arte, política e sociedade atuam em uma mostra e oferecem caminhos com muitos pontos para reflexão sobre a importância de uma pesquisa interdisciplinar da história da arte. Para escaparmos de leituras reducionistas sobre as histórias das exposições, uma opção metodológica é adotar uma perspectiva social, que contraponha a análise desses eventos à história da arte local e ao contexto político no qual se inserem.
