Abstract

The planning and development of teaching practice has an important impact on student learning. Thus, this paper aims to present a tool for a more applied study on specific content of the discipline of Petroleum Geophysics. The SeisLab 3.02 toolbox is a seismic analysis tool being an extension of MATLAB®. This tool is based on seismic data processing which will provide a visualization of the subsurface structure serving as the basis for exploration and subsequent production of oil and natural gas. It is emphasized the importance of using this study model in view of the complexity of the subject, thus requiring an alternative to the theoretical classes and consequently delivering a quality teaching to students of the discipline of Petroleum Geophysics. The installation steps are described until you arrive at the visualization of synthetic seismograms in MATLAB® environment.
