Resumen

Este trabajo de revisión bibliográfica describe el origen, los desarrollos históricos y el panorama general de Meteoritic. La humanidad ha tenido contacto con los meteoritos desde la Prehistoria, cuando el conocimiento se asoció con tradiciones culturales. A partir de la observación sistemática de las caídas y la recolección de muestras, se iniciaron estudios que permitieron verificar su origen espacial. Con el avance y perfeccionamiento de las técnicas de caracterización, fue posible explorar progresivamente la composición y estructura de los meteoritos, permitiendo inferir los procesos de formación cósmica. La meteorología en Brasil comenzó en el siglo XVIII. El país tiene más de 70 meteoritos registrados, con algunos ejemplos destacados, como el meteorito Angra dos Reis. Se presenta una síntesis del trabajo de algunos autores nacionales, como contribución a la difusión del conocimiento geocientífico.
