Resumen

En la última década más o menos, el populismo y las redes sociales han sido temas destacados tanto en la academia como en la esfera pública. En este punto, las pruebas de varios países sugieren que los paralelismos percibidos entre la dinámica de las redes sociales y la mecánica del discurso populista pueden ser algo más que incidentales, relacionados con un campo estructural compartido. Este artículo sugiere un posible camino hacia dar sentido a cómo la dinámica de las redes sociales y la mecánica de la movilización populista se han coproducido entre sí en la última década más o menos. Navegando por la interfaz entre la antropología y la linguística, se necesitan aspectos clave de la noción de liminalidad de Victor Turner para sugerir algunas de las formas en que los recursos antiestructurales de las redes sociales pueden ayudar a sentar las bases para el florecimiento contemporáneo del discurso populista: se suspenden los marcadores de la estructura social; se forman las comunitarís; se aborda el núcleo de la cultura; mimesis e inversiones antiestructurales se realizan; sujetos se vuelven inviables. Deteno esta afirmación basada en materiales brasileños, extraída de la etnografía en línea sobre grupos pro-Bolsonaro WhatsApp y otras plataformas como Twitter y Facebook desde 2018.
