Abstract

The aim of this paper is to join the debate on visual culture and
visuality, seeking contributions to the understanding of mathematical
visualization and proposing ways to connect visuality to mathematics education.
On the attempt to understand some specificities of the term “visuality” in the debate of North American visual culture, we realized that visual practices create
ways of looking at historical and cultural contexts. Finally, we propose the use of
the visuality as an analysis strategy for wider research in visual language and
more consistency in mathematical education.
