Abstract
How can we recognize/value or not the framework that we have in Mathematics Education? How can we researches/teachers, understand the anxiety existent in training the conventional algorithms when the subject-matter is the computation of the basic arithmetical operations? One key to transform this picture would be to focus and to discuss what has blocked a much more autonomous attitude towards this issue. In this article I stress the model “factors of pressure” linked, whether overtly or not, to this mathematical aspect – the structural, the historical and the social – that restrain and contain the teachers from reflecting, discussing and searching Mathematics Education potential of some other ways of doing the computation of our basic arithmetical operations.
