Policies and management in early childhood education: democracy and children's rights

Abstract

The Dossier “Policies and Management in Early Childhood Education: Democracy and Children’s Rights” is made up of ten articles, seven of which are authored by Brazilian researchers who work in different public institutions (USP/São Paulo and Ribeirão Preto, UNICAMP, UNIFESP, UNIFAL/ MG, UFMS/Naviraí and Pantanal and Fundação Carlos Chagas) and three by foreign researchers with recognized insertion in the themes proposed in the dossier, professors from universities on different continents (University College London/England; The University of Waikato/New Zealand; Universidad de Chile /Chile). These researchers address, in the set of articles, both the Public Policy for Early Childhood Education in its different dimensions, as well as the Management of the education system and daycare and preschool units, with children's rights and the democratic perspective as the unifying axis. . This is a set of articles that seek to highlight the challenges for the formulation and implementation of policies and management in early childhood education to promote social justice, racial equality and democratization of access and permanence of babies and children in different contexts. Starting from different theoretical matrices, the texts promote dialogues through the plurality of references that support and favor the analysis of the daily life of early childhood education institutions and the Management of public education networks, covering the aesthetic dimension, teacher training, impasses and advances in policies for public, democratic and quality education in daycare centers and preschools.
