Rethinking the interconnection of art and ecology from the global south

Abstract

This dossier examines the relationship between art and ecology from Latin American and Global South perspectives. The articles gathered here seek to rethink this relation and to analyze the artistic production generated by the impact of an emerging environmental consciousness in the arts, and by the way we think about artistic practices. The texts reveal the importance not only of presenting ecological concepts originating from Latin America and other postcolonial spaces central to the creation of contemporary artistic practices, but also of rethinking the art historiography and criticism that has developed new parameters to consider the role of nature in art.
